Artist statement
My work explores themes of femininity and the natural world in illustrative realism. I have always enjoyed being outdoors, and the women in my family have inspired me from a young age in this type of setting. I feel most myself in nature and rural open spaces because of their ability to ground me. In turn, I feel spiritually and emotionally connected to the soothing effect of plants, skies, and being within my body and imagination. I had a frustrating adolescence, and the many positive and negative fascists of girlhood and becoming a woman are the underlying groundwork supporting the narratives I create within my art. Within theories such as ecofeminism, I compare functions in nature to my surreal perception of unspoken moments within womanhood in a diaristic and fantastical way.
